American Legion Post 663 New Membership
If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged, or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.
To be considered for membership, please fill out the attached application and mail or drop off to American Legion Post 663, 6805 Douglas Ave, Urbandale IA 50322.
American Legion Post 663 2024 Membership Renewals
As you know, your American Legion membership is designed similar to a magazine subscription – the renewal is due before your current membership expires. National began sending out 2024 renewals on July 1, 2023, as they operate on a fiscal year from July 1st through June 30th of the following year. However, membership is based upon the calendar year. Your renewed membership is valid from January 1st through December 31st of the calendar year noted on your membership card.
The sooner you pay your membership after having received a renewal notice, the quicker you will stop receiving renewal requests in the mail. This also helps reduce the costs of additional paper and postage for the mailing of additional renewal notices.
There are a couple of ways to renew your membership:
- Online via the internet at the National American Legion site. You will need your membership number and a credit card.
- Cash or check can be mailed to the Post, or dropped in the mail slot at the side door of our building. Checks should be made out to Post 663, and our address is 6805 Douglas Ave, Urbandale IA 50322.
The current annual membership dues are currently $40 a year. Out of that $40, National, the State of IA, and the IA 6th District each take a portion. In the end, Post 663 receives $4 for every new membership, or membership renewal.
